Is there a weight limit for tandem skydiving?
Yes. We can take tandem skydivers up to about 265 pounds, but there are additional fees for people over 220 pounds.
Also, we need to evaluate skydivers over 180 pounds on a case-by-case basis to ensure the skydiving harness will fit you safely.
What would keep me from skydiving today?
- Scuba diving within 24 hours before your jump
- Being over the weight limit (see above)
- Being under 18 years of age
- Being under the influence of drugs/alcohol
- Inclement weather (rain/excessive wind/clouds), and/or
- Not having your government issued photo ID to prove you’re who you say you are and that you’re at least 18 years old.
Should I eat before my jump.
It’s a good idea to eat a light meal or snack before you head to the drop zone.
How long does the entire process take?
Plan on spending 2 to 3 hours for your experience with Jump Sturgis. We’ll get you prepped, suited up and comfortable (well, maybe not completely) with the process. Before you know it, you’ll be back on the ground and wanting to do the whole thing again. It’s addictive.
Can my friends come and watch?
Absolutely. They’ll get a great view from anywhere near Full Throttle, but feel free to have them accompany you to our drop zone to watch you take off as well.
Do I need to make a reservation for a tandem skydive?
No, but chances are slim that you’ll get to jump. This is going to be one of Bike Week’s most sought after and talked about events.
Sign up early to guarantee that you’ll be able jump.
Do you offer video of tandem skydives?
Video and stills will be available to show off to family and friends. If there’s anything custom that you want, just let us know and we’ll try to accomodate.
Am I jumping alone or with an instructor?
At the Jump Sturgis event, we only offer tandem for your first skydive, where you are harnessed to an experienced instructor. Experience the thrill of skydiving with the comfort of an expert guide for every step of the way (plus it’s more time-efficient than jumping solo, which requires about a 6-hour instructional class before jumping). For tandem skydiving, you’ll learn the basics during a 30-minute class and we will get you skydiving soon afterwards.
What can I expect on my Jump Sturgis experience?
- You can expect to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and fly like Superman or Wonder Woman (or however you choose how to identify!)
- Freefall at 120 mph!
- Jump harnessed to an experienced instructor after a brief class
- Pull your own ripcord for a peaceful, 5-minute parachute flight and a soft, on-target landing
- Don’t forget to ask about a video of your jump… because without video, it didn’t happen.
How high? How fast?
You will jump from approximately 10,000 to 11,000 MSL above sea level.Freefall averages 120 miles per hour.
What if I change my mind about jumping?
We will never force you to make a jump, but we do have some policies to keep in mind.
If at any point, prior to boarding the plane, you decide not to jump, just let us know and we will refund your full payment.
In the rare event you decide not to jump while you are on the plane, please be advised you will not be refunded for any portion of the jump. Once the plane leaves the ground, we consider our services to have been rendered whether you decide to jump or not.
